The World Bank’s Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) group and Transport Global Practice invite you to “ieConnect: Innovative Data Systems and Impact Evaluations” in MC4-300, from 1:30PM to 2:30PM. Light lunch will be served.
Advances in data and technology have created new opportunities to work on the evaluation of large infrastructure investments. The ieConnect for Impact program includes 30 impact evaluations across 19 different countries and is generating a significant body of evidence through the development of data systems and experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations.
The session will feature a presentation from the Rwanda Feeder Roads Impact Evaluation team, highlighting their experience building a data system and the transformational potential that this has for the government of Rwanda.  We will also showcase innovations in the use of crowdsourced, satellite, and high frequency data for informing transport policy. This will include a live presentation of the real-time road traffic crash (RTC) map for the city of Nairobi that was launched in partnership with the Kenyan government and private sector to transform the quantity and quality of car crash data. The map identifies hotspots for policy action. This is part of a larger initiative to develop national- and regional-level systems that generate evidence and develop strategies to improve safety, mobility, and environmental outcomes.  Transport data systems and impact evaluations can transform the way we think of mobility as an economic force and at a scale that will substantially improve the evidence-base for policy making.
The ieConnect for Impact program is a collaboration between DIME and the World Bank’s Transport & Digital Development Global Practice, with initial seed funding from UKAID. It includes 30 impact evaluations across 19 different countries and is generating a significant body of evidence through the development of data systems and experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations.
