Hur Hassnain is an evaluation specialist. He has 15 years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation, organisational systems development and in designing and conducting evaluations, including in contexts of fragility, conflict and violence. He is an expert in (quasi) experimental designs, participatory and theory-based evaluation approaches and has developed innovative tools that have been used and presented internationally. He has extensive experience of working in a variety of thematic areas including but are not limited to gender equality, climate change, renewable energy, agriculture, women economic empowerment, education and protection. He organized and delivered M&E capacity building at the corporate and country levels, which entailed the liaison with a broad range of stakeholders including government representatives. He has lived and worked in Asia, Middle East and Africa. Hur has designed, commissioned and conducted research and evaluations for projects funded by the UN agencies, European Commission, private donors and governments of the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Netherlands and Norway.
Hur is the Founder of Pakistan Evaluation Association and Vice President at the Asia Pacific Evaluation Association. At IDEAS, Hur chairs the Thematic Interest Group (TIG) on Evaluation in Fragility, Conflict and Violence.
Hur is fully proficient in four languages.
His collection of Urdu poetry was published in Pakistan in 2006.
