The Center for Evaluation (CEval) (Germany), in consortium with the University of Bern (Switzerland), has been selected to manage and deliver IPDET 2.0.
The consortium brings deep roots in development evaluation training and a strong faculty. These institutions offer Europe’s longest-standing demand-oriented master’s and continuing education programs in evaluation. The new IPDET program will be held at the University of Bern, itself affording a central position in Switzerland, and supported by their center of excellence for adult learning. The dynamic team brings strong strategic orientation to the path of IPDET 2.0 ahead, comprising Stefanie Krapp, Verena Friedrich (both University of Bern) and Reinhard Stockmann, Wolfgang Meyer (both CEval), with Steffi as the new program manager.
We share a common quest to build evaluation capacities among ourselves, clients and partners not only to conduct evaluations, but also to apply evaluation findings in policy and decision making in client countries. We would very much appreciate your support to fund scholarships for developing country participants, and to send your staff to the relaunched program.
IEG and the new partners have worked very hard to develop a high level professional offering in development evaluation training. The 2018 program will be delivered during the last two weeks of July through a one-week Core Course, taught by Linda Morra Imas and Ray Rist, followed by one week of in-depth workshops, taught by a dynamic group of renowned international faculty drawn from organizations around the world including Bassirou Chitou, Wolfgang Meyer, Michael Patton, Reinhard Stockmann, as well as specialists from IEG and other parts of the international evaluation community. The program will offer new ideas, concepts, and methods around evaluation and that are in line with the challenges of our time and relevant for an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
As IPDET 2.0 unfolds ahead, the Steering Group (IEG, Ceval, Bern) looks forward to engaging you in addressing new topics in evaluation, new modalities of learning and new forms of engagement with actors and delivery in the global south. It will retain the unique, successful features of the original program: strong community, strong faculty, strong content.
Information about the 2018 program and registration details will be available by the end of March.
In the meantime, please contact Julia Thompson with any questions or expressions of interest.
